Birds + Flies Series
Featuring seasonal warblers you’re likely to encounter in the woods + waters of Maine, this series celebrates classic streamer patterns in playful relationship with birds of similar palette.
Tennessee Warbler
Leiothlypis peregrina: not often considered showstoppers in the warbler family, Tennesees are similar in appearance regardless of sex and happy, bright vocalists.
I love the more subtle warblers like the Tennessee, unassuming in plumage and strong forces nonetheless.

9’3” Streamer
A streamer intended to mimic a smelt, the 9’3” has mixed history of invention, some claiming the pattern to a Dr. Sanborn out of Waterville, though Carrie Stevens was known to tie it frequently. What is clear: this pattern caught a 9lb 3oz salmon on its test run. This pattern utilizes a mix of tinsel, buck tail, green saddle and natural black hackle, and jungle cock for the eye or thread with painted eye — as depicted here.
