Registration Request: Ennis, MT Outcast Campout

from $100.00

From July 18-21, camp and fish in community along the banks of the Madison river by foot and by boat. All experience levels welcome, and this campout is especially accessible to anglers with mobility restrictions of any kind. We are overjoyed to be hosted by Peter Pauwels at Camp BullWheel who has shared knowledge and gear innovations to better support adaptive fishing within our programs; the camp is currently growing through a partnership with Ability Montana to ensure more folks living with disabilities can have equitable access to the water.

The Madison is perhaps known best for its resident brown trout, and is home to cutthroat and rainbow rainbow, and our local favorite/under-appreciated whitefish. Meadows and cottonwood groves host osprey, bald eagles, hawks and harriers you can spot on the wing throughout the valley. Don’t be too surprised if you encounter a moose! July means dry fly fishing with potential for caddis hatches, mayflies, and grasshoppers (fingers crossed for salmon flies!) and typically productive streamer, wet fly + nymph fishing.

Confluence Collective participates in sliding scale pricing models for community events. We encourage and rely on community to self-select the tier that best fits their level of financial stability and privilege; please refer to the Green Bottle sliding scale model to identify the rate for you. Please continue reading below to determine the rate that works best for you.

Identifying the right pricing tier for you:

  • The base rate for this event is $300, covering actual program costs. If you are able to treat yourself without worrying about covering life necessities, the base rate is likely the appropriate price for you.

  • The “Take My Money” rate is $450, covering you and another angler’s basic program costs. This is available for those who are able to pay more based on their available resources, and ensures anglers with fewer resources have access to lower pricing tiers.

  • The $200 Subsidized Rate is for those who cannot cover full program costs. This price relies on community subsidies from the “Take My Money” rate — allowing for anonymous support to ensure access by and for community. If this feels like the right price for you, we encourage you to select it. A minimum of two (2) slots are set aside at this rate. Feel free to contact us with any questions: us@confluencecollective.org

  • The $100 Payment Plan Rate is for those who cannot pay for full program cost up front at the time of requesting registration. This rate relies on you communicating with us to ensure a plan is set up specifically for what is realistic to you. Please contact us to talk through options: us@confluencecollective.org

Being financially accessible is a core part of Outcast Campouts, recognizing many fly fishing experiences are not. If you are unable to pay at any of the rates we have listed, please reach out. We will either work out a payment plan and/or provide a code to offset whatever you need.

Outcast Campouts are group events with a choose-your-own-adventure approach to fishing. Buddy up with fellow campers, hire a guide, take a day hike, or take a nap under a cottonwood — all are welcome here. Evening social + educational time will keep you learning from one another and sharing fishing stories around the campfire. We’ll hear from experts + community members on the regional heritage + complicated history of local fly fishing, conservation, entomology, decolonized considerations for the spaces we visit, and more.

A portion of proceeds from this purchase goes directly back into the hosting community: a portion of every program registration goes to mission-connected social, indigenous, environmental, conservation, and community groups doing necessary work in their local context. Past proceeds have benefitted: First Light, Nibezun, MMIW, the Marsha P Johnson Institute and Bomazeen Land Trust. For the 2024 Ennis Outcast Campout, we will be contributing to out hosts at Camp Bullwheel. Thank you for supporting!

Please Note: by paying for this offering in our shop, you are submitting a Registration Request.

You will receive notification from Confluence Collective either confirming your spot, or refunding in full if the program is at capacity. If confirmed, you will have the opportunity to add on things like Community Meals, Guided Fishing, or Lodging.

Cancellation Policy: To receive a full refund, this program requires 30 days notice prior to July 18th, 2024. Any cancellation in the remaining 29 days before the event will not be refunded, and will go towards another angler’s participation in a future event. We know plans and circumstances can change outside of your control, and we encourage you to be in touch to discuss options: us@confluencecollective.org
