CATCH FISH NOT PEOPLE: Mutual Aid Fundraiser

from $5.00

Collaborating with organizers in Minnesota and Maine, these designs were created by Bri Dostie as a fundraiser to support mutual aid. Proceeds go towards legal fees, rent and utilities costs, food, and other basic needs for those impacted by ongoing raids and violence. Here’s how you can help:

  • Buy a sticker: all proceeds go directly into supporting the work of communities to keep one another safe, fed, and sustained.

  • Buy a print: same note as above, AND thank you to Paper Tides for making these designs into tangible beauties we can see every day in our homes!

  • Donate Directly: if you don’t want or need another sticker, print, or t-shirt, donate directly to mutual aid funds and organizations getting it done.

  • Donate AND get a sticker: Send a receipt of your donation to us@confluencecollective.org with your address and we’ll mail you a sticker

THIS IS A PRE-SALE: because of the fast changing environment of resistance work and impending February rent needs for those sheltering in place, we are taking orders now that will get funding directly into the hands of those who need it immediately, and ship as soon as humanly possible via USPS. Please note it may take a week or so for you to receive your order as the same people packing boxes for shipping are also engaged in direct community care work, and unlike UPS, or FedEx, USPS is not directly funding genocide and is understaffed so while shipping times are slightly more inconvenient, money is at least going towards what we stand for. Thank you for understanding as we all navigate how to be human.

Loons with fish have become a symbol of resistance in Minnesota, where incredible fishing is available just about everywhere you look. They also sing at the best brookie ponds in Maine, where raids are increasing. So instead of choosing fear and violence, go catch a fish. Sit with yourself on the water and remember the humanity in your neighbors, your cousins, your family, and yourself. This work is all connected, and no one is free until ALL are free (yes, FREE PALESTINE, CONGO, SUDAN—)

And if you are part of the incredible localized support networks looking out for one another, use this symbol to bring more people together, empower sustained and community-centered care, and know you are one of many badasses moving with love in the face of horrific apathy. Stay strong, care for each other!

Love has never been a popular movement. And no one’s ever wanted, really, to be free. The world is held together, really it is held together, by the love and the passion of a very few people. Otherwise, of course, you can despair. Walk down the street of any city, any afternoon, and look around you. What you’ve got to remember is what you’re looking at is also you. Everyone you’re looking at is also you. You could be that person. You could be that monster, you could be that cop. And you have to decide, in yourself, not to be.
